My approach to music dates back to the beginning of the '80s, with an electric bass my brother brought home from the music school he attended. My first experiences in those years were with jazz-oriented bands. Soon after, I began attending the Double Bass courses at the Milan Conservatory.
My interest in music quickly went beyond the borders of my own instrument. I started studying composition, harmony and, more at a technical level but equally fascinating to me, the whole matter concerning work in a recording studio. Parallel to the first gigs and concerts, I worked for a year as a sound engineer, then for another year as a music counselor for a national broadcasting tv channel of the Mediaset Group, before turning to music as a full time profession.
Through all the '90s I was mainly involved in concerts as a bass player in various jazz formations, both in Italy and Europe. My collaborations included A. Faraò, A. Cappelletti, Axmo Quartet, G. Cardinale, E. Rava, A. Zambrini, C. Fasoli, Produzione Propria Ensemble, N. Svampa, O.E.S. In the same period I also published my CD's "Le ciel de ma mémoire" and "Ape Regina", the latter resulting from a collaboration with poetess Alda Merini.
At 2k's dawn, my activity shifts gradually onto composition and work at the recording studio in Milan, which in the meantime I had opened with my brother. At the studio, we accomplished both recording and production works with first class artists of the international jazz scene (H. de Holanda, P. Erskine, J. Abercrombie, R. Galliano, T. Scott, A. Nussbaum, P. McCandless, U. Petrin, T. Ghiglioni, Nexus).
From 2012 on, I left my recording studio activity to focus mostly on composition for choir, orchestra and chamber formations. The CD "Secular & Sacred Music for Unaccompanied Choir" was published in 2016 and interpreted by vocal group Humana Vox, which I founded and direct. This work is part of a trilogy dedicated to the spiritual and most intimate dimension of the human being; the second CD "Corpus Hermeticum" was released in 2018, while the third one, "Alpha & Omega", in 2021.
Il mio approccio alla musica risale all'inizio degli anni '80, con un basso elettrico che mio fratello portò a casa dalla scuola di musica che a quel tempo frequentava. In quegli anni le prime esperienze furono con gruppi "jazz oriented" e di lì a poco incominciai a frequentare i corsi di Contrabbasso al Conservatorio di Milano.
Il mio interesse per la musica andò ben presto oltre i confini del mio strumento e così incominciai a studiare composizione, armonia e, su un lato più tecnico ma per me altrettanto affascinante, tutto quanto riguardava il lavoro in studio di registrazione. Parallelamente alle prime serate e concerti, lavorai per un anno come ingegnere del suono, poi un altro come consulente musicale presso un'emittente televisiva del Gruppo Mediaset prima di dedicarmi professionalmente alla musica a tempo pieno.
Gli anni '90 mi vedono principalmente impegnato nell'attività concertistica come contrabbassista in diverse formazioni jazz in Italia e in Europa collaborando, tra gli altri, con A. Faraò, A. Cappelletti, Axmo Quartet, G. Cardinale, E. Rava, A. Zambrini, C. Fasoli, Produzione Propria Ensemble, N. Svampa, O.E.S. A quel periodo risale anche la pubblicazione dei miei CD "Le ciel de ma mémoire" e "Ape Regina", quest'ultimo frutto di una collaborazione con la poetessa Alda Merini.
Con gli anni 2000 la mia attività si sposta maggiormente sulla composizione e sul lavoro nello studio di registrazione che nel frattempo avevo aperto a Milano con mio fratello e attraverso il quale abbiamo realizzato registrazioni e produzioni discografiche con importanti artisti della scena jazz internazionale (H. de Holanda, P. Erskine, J. Abercrombie, R. Galliano, T. Scott, A. Nussbaum, P. McCandless, U. Petrin, T. Ghiglioni, Nexus).
Dal 2012 in poi ho lasciato l'attività in studio di registrazione per dedicarmi principalmente alla composizione per orchestra, formazioni corali e differenti gruppi da camera. E' avvenuta nel 2016 la pubblicazione del CD "Secular & Sacred Music for Unaccompanied Choir" interpretato dal gruppo vocale Humana Vox, da me fondato e diretto. Questo lavoro è parte di una trilogia dedicata alla dimensione spirituale e più intima dell'essere umano; il secondo CD "Corpus Hermeticum" è uscito nel 2018 mentre il terzo, "Alpha & Omega", è stato realizzato nel 2021.
